As with all metals, it is recommended to take it off during showers, sunbathing and swimming as the metal parts can react and oxidase.
Oxidasation process can also be triggered by oils, creams, perfumes on the skin. Having said that however, it is also a beautiful journey of your jewellery into being used and it creates a certain character of its own.
